| Marion Rose was born in St Andrews, Scotland and grew up on Walney Island off the coast
of Cumbria. She spent a good deal of her childhood dreaming of adventure. After reading English
Literature at Bangor University, North Wales, she went travelling for a year in India.
Marion settled in London where she worked in publishing. She did copywriting and publicity for Macmillan, and was an editor of educational materials with the ILEA TV & Publishing Centre and, later, HarperCollins. |

| Marion began to write for children 10 years ago. Her first novel, Circles in the Corn, was
shortlisted for the Kathleen Fidler Award. She has since published five picture books, of which
Fairy Tale Secrets was shortlisted for the 2006 Nottingham Children's Book Award.
Marion hosts a thriving writers' group, makes regular visits into schools and still find time to enjoy travelling. She returns to the mountains and coast of North Wales whenever she can. The rest of the time she lives in London with her husband, son and giant cat. |
