| Linda was brought up in Epping, Essex. She studied English and Education
at the University of London and became an English Teacher. She also spent time as a counsellor
on a Summer Camp in Connecticut, USA, and a week as writer-in-residence at Dubai College,
United Arab Emirates.
Linda's ambition has always been to write, and after some tentative experimentation with poetry she found her talent in teenage fiction. She has written numerous books for young adults, including the Some Other War trilogy and the Shouting Wind trilogy, (Harper Collins). She has also written some short stories (Transworld) and some stories for younger children (Scholastic, Harper Collins and Transworld). |

Linda has been nominated and shortlisted for numerous awards, including the Carnegie Award,
the Writer's Guild and the Birmingham TSB Award. 2000 and 2001 saw the publication of
the Moving On trilogy (Orchard Books). No Way Back, Break Time and Windfall
are all sensitive and highly readable novels about friendship and growing up.
As well as writing full time Linda is a regular tutor of writing courses for children and adults and is also a reviewer for the School Librarian, Armadillo and the Times Educational Supplement. |
