Giles Andreae

Giles write highly successful children's books. The first, Rumble in the Jungle, was an instant success and has sold more than half a million copies. The more recent Dinosaurs Galore continues the rhyming fun and vibrant illustrations that established Giraffes Can't Dance as a perennial children's favourite. The Lion Who Wanted to Love won the Federation of Children's Book Group's Best Picture Book Award 1998.
Picture of Giles Andreae Giles more recent and equally enchanting titles are There's a House Inside My Mummy, Heaven's Having You, K is For Kissing A Cool Kangeroo and The Magic Donkey Ride.

Giles's children's books have, to date, sold more than 1.5 million copies, making him one of the most successful children's authors working today.

Giles Andreae is also the creator of Purple Ronnie, Britain's favourite stickman. This phenomenally successful cartoon character has made Giles the country's top-selling poet and an icon of contemporary popular culture.

Following the success of the magical Princess Pearl and the exuberant Billy Bonkers, The Chimpanzees of Happytown is a beautifully written and brilliantly illustrated tale of a chimpanzee's efforts to spread happiness and joy through the town of Drabsville.

Keep Love in Your Heart, Little One is Giles' latest title with Orchard Books. It is a lyrical tale of parental love and a child's boundless energy and enthusiasm for life, illustrated by Clara Vulliamy.

Over 35 million cards and one million books have been sold - four of them have reached the Top 10 Bestsellers lists. Purple Ronnie's extensive range of merchandise now encompasses cards, mugs, toiletries, books, games, confectionery, streetwear, stationery, jewellery, housewares and accessories. With £50 million of sales in the UK, Purple Ronnie is now one of the most successful licensed characters in the country.

Giles lives with his wife, Victoria, a children's clothes designer, in Notting Hill and Wiltshire. Giles and Victoria have three children, Flinn and twins Freya and Nat, who were born at the end of the last millennium.

"Bedtime reading to make fours to sevens and their grown-ups go all mushy." - The Express

" ... full of warm, noisy illustrations and affectionate poems ... fast-moving and great to read aloud, this is the sort of silliness that really keeps children amused." - The Independent
