Ann Bryant was born and brought up in Buxton in Derbyshire. She left her home town to become a music student in London and spent four fantastic years completing her music degree. However, Ann found that she missed literature and drama enormously. Ann went on to teach music drama and dance to children and also wrote scripts, poetry, songs and stories for children's BBC. She still teaches but on a very part-time basis; her time is mostly spent on writing now. Ann is the author behind the successful, long-running series The Café Club (Scholastic) and the new series Step Chain (Egmont) as well as a Key Stage One music scheme (IMP).

Ann is married with two children and lives in Kent. She leads an extremely active lifestyle and is passionate about writing and teaching. She and her husband have a house in France, where she loves to spend time eating and drinking with friends and family.
